Cousin bait: Reinhardt Solly or similar

I am seeking the origins of a man known as Reinhardt Solly, b approx 1802 Alsace, d 1882, Erie County, New York, USA.

I would love to find any records about him from before 1850.

On documents, he has many names!

Among mostly US federal and NY state census records, I have these names, all attributed to the same man:

S Reinhart
Reinhard Salli
Rinhart Soller
R Solly
Reintart Sole
Rinehart Salle
Sollie Reinhart
Reinhard Salle
Richard Salle
Rheinhard Solly
Reinhardt Solly

I do not know what village in Alsace he is from. I estimate he arrived in the USA via New York in 1839.

He settled with him family in Erie County, New York, towns of Hamburg, Eden, East Eden, and West Seneca. They were Roman Catholic, at churches Fourteen Holy Helpers and Saint Peter and Saint Paul.

He married Margaret, probably Hetzelein.

Their children were:

  • Margaret Solly, 1849–1933, married to Constanste Gerstner
  • Anthony R Solly, 1851–1923, married to Julia Barbara Metzger
  • George Augustus Solly, 1853–1920
  • Catherine Solly, 1854–1910, married to John Kurtzworth
  • John George Solly, 1858–1900
  • Magdalena Solly, 1862–1956, married to John Rieblinger

If you have any information about this man and his origins, I would love to hear from you. I’m actively researching at the time of writing this page. Even if you’re finding this years later, I will still very likely want to hear from you.

Best,

Cousin Solly
